Post-baby weight loss – OK! Magazine

Submitted by David Hamm on Tuesday, 21 November 20063 Comments

Last week’s OK! Magazine describes celebrity moms like Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Brooke Shields, weight loss and fitness plan strategies post baby. They spun, ran, walked, yogaed, pilatised, detoxified, and hiked into their new mom bodies.

The article also gave advice for new moms including my book Expecting Fitness for more help.  Today’s celebrity mom knows the importance of exercise to shape up after pregnancy. According to Dr. James F. Clapp MD, an international authority on the effects of exercise during pregnancy and research professor of OB/Gyn at the University of Vermont  College of Medicine, at a recent conference, the sooner a new mom starts exercising post baby, the better off she and baby will be. He recommends for most moms to resume exercise 2-3 weeks postpartum, and that athletes may resume training 5-7 days postpartum.  Exercise along with taking Omega fatty acids also helps stabilize moods to prevent depression.  A happy, healthy mom, has a happy, healthy baby.
